Dr Stella Laletas                         Child, Adolescent & Family Psychological Services

Born in Melbourne, I’m a registered psychologist who has over 20 years of educational experience in early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary environments.

I obtained my PhD in Psychology (Educational & Developmental) at Monash University. I completed my clinical training at the Royal Children’s Hospital CAMHS and Schools Early Action Program; Student Support Services, Department of Education and Training Victoria, and Monash University Krongold Clinic. As a member of the Australian Psychological Society, I have a sound knowledge of the ethical issues related to the field and maintain ongoing professional development training.

My qualifications and training in educational and developmental psychology provides me with knowledge and skills to assist children and families experiencing difficulties across the educational spectrum. This includes conducting cross battery psychological and educational assessments; generating reports that provide recommendations and intervention strategies for parents and teachers, as well as providing comprehensive family and child custody evaluations based on multiple information gathering methods.

I have a special interest in the educational experiences of children and how this is impacted by factors associated with anxiety, behavioural issues, trauma and disability. My PhD that explored how developmentally vulnerable children, in particular young children of parents experiencing difficulties related to mental health issues, can be supported by the early childhood education and care system.

My Practice

CVP-practiceEducational and developmental assessments may be requested for a variety of reasons. Children’s Voice Psychology provides comprehensive reports and recommendations based on information gathered from a variety of educational assessment tools.

My qualifications in educational and developmental psychology, as well as my teaching and counselling experience equips me with a deep understanding of the contemporary issues and challenges faced by children, teachers and families. As a parent I have developed an understanding of the importance of challenging children in their quest for academic excellence, but not at a cost to their personal development.

Family and child custody evaluations provide information to both the Court and families. Based on the models of best practice outlined by the AFCC (2006) and APS (2009), child centred and child inclusive practices are employed based on my knowledge of developmental theories that provide a framework for understanding the factors that influence a child’s developmental trajectory.

The services provided by Children’s Voice Psychology are underpinned by my specialised training, high level of expertise and strong commitment to child advocacy.
